  Architectural Blog: SELF BUILD IN LEICESTER A #ThrowBackThursday post coming at you from 2012.  One of our Architectural Impressions produced from our sketch proposals for self-build project in Oadby, Leicester. This striking contemporary new self-build home project, was created to provide a replacement dwelling and included a generous provision of green technologies, from Solar PV to Air Source Heat Pumps.  The front facade was of a render and timber clad finish, with first floor balconies and bespoke architectural features.  Unfortunately, this project never got off the drawing board and the clients moved from their home rather than replacing the existing dwelling to meet their needs.  It is always a very brave client that can knock down and rebuild a property, and a tight call on whether the scheme is financially advantageous or not. ON SITE: Home Extension in Leicester This single storey home extension was designed to create a new open plan Kitchen, Dining and entertaining space, (within the rendered section) along with a Boot Room and Utility Room, (within the burnt timber clad section of the building). To ensure the modern design fitted with the existing dwelling, the black and white colour palette of the mock tudor detailing on the existing building was replicated using a smooth white render and burnt timber cladding - we are all looking forward to seeing this exciting project develop on site through to completion. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN IN LEICESTER: Architectural Design in Leicester. A bespoke new home at Burrough-on-the-Hill, Melton Mowbray.   A #ThrowBackThursday post brought to you from 2018.   A back land development scheme that started life as an existing large detached double garage, workshop and plant room (for the outside swimming pool). We drew up the proposals for the existing building to be converted and extended, and the swimming pool to be filled in to enable the creation of this bespoke new family home.   Converting the existing building and extending the property allowed for an extremely cost effective build project that permitted the owners to use additional funds in providing a high specification finish throughout.    The land title was split to form two separate addresses.  The original home, (already benefitting from a separate garage of its own), was separated from the land with the workshop, plant room, swimming pool and additional gar...
