  Architectural Blog: PLANNING APPROVAL IN NEWTOWN LINFORD: We're delighted to have received the grant of planning approval for this fantastic Home Extension in Newtown Linford, Leicester . Working closely with the planning officer as well as the conservation officer, we were able to secure the approval for a two storey front and side extension set in the conservation area of Newtown Linford.  On this occasion the proposed two storey extension will create a new feature entrance, garage and two new bedrooms over.  While a single storey, timber clad, rear extensions will house a new Utility and Family Kitchen Area. Meanwhile, further alteration works will provide for a Home Gymnasium, TV Room with separate Living and Dining Areas. Materials have been particularly important on this project.  The homeowner in this case has been able to secure a quantity of reclaimed Swithland Slate, (which is no longer quarried), to ensure the roof remains in keeping with the locality.  In addi

  Architectural Blog: SELF BUILD IN LEICESTER A #ThrowBackThursday post coming at you from 2012.  One of our Architectural Impressions produced from our sketch proposals for self-build project in Oadby, Leicester. This striking contemporary new self-build home project, was created to provide a replacement dwelling and included a generous provision of green technologies, from Solar PV to Air Source Heat Pumps.  The front facade was of a render and timber clad finish, with first floor balconies and bespoke architectural features.  Unfortunately, this project never got off the drawing board and the clients moved from their home rather than replacing the existing dwelling to meet their needs.  It is always a very brave client that can knock down and rebuild a property, and a tight call on whether the scheme is financially advantageous or not.
