  PLANNING APPLICATION SUBMITTED:   Planning Submission for a fantastic new Home Extension in Newtown Linford, Leicester.   Designed by Paul Day BSc (Hons) MCIAT of PD Architecture the project will create a new feature entrance, and garage with two bedrooms over.   A further ground floor extension to the rear will provide a new Utility Room and Open Plan Family Kitchen.   ON THE DRAWING BOARD: 3 New Build Dormer Bungalows in Nottingham soon to be on site! We have secured planning permission for some small non-material amendments;  the building regulation application has been submitted and the Energy Assessor is working on the SAP calculations. There will likely be a few tweaks to ensure compliance with the new (2022) Part L regulations, and to match the (SAP) ‘notional dwelling’ but then we are good to go.   We are now looking forward to seeing the development progress on site.   Self-Build Home in Widmerpool, Nottinghamshire by PD Architecture. For this week’s #TBT post we are taking you back to 2007. This self-build home site was in the heart of the village of Widmerpool in Nottingham. The site housed a dated dwelling in need of modernisation.  After careful consideration of the costs involved and VAT savings inherent with a self-build project, the decision was taken to demolish and rebuild the existing dwelling rather than to modernise. The  building plans we created provided for four bedrooms, each with an en-suite, a double garage with a home office over and all the other facilities associated with a modern new home. The architectural detailing to create the traditional look for the property included a predominantly brick built home with a rendered wing, stone window heads and cills, timber sash windows, conservation rooflights and all finished off with a slate roof. ON SITE: Home Extension in Leicester This single storey home extension was designed to create a new open plan Kitchen, Dining and entertaining space, (within the rendered section) along with a Boot Room and Utility Room, (within the burnt timber clad section of the building). To ensure the modern design fitted with the existing dwelling, the black and white colour palette of the mock tudor detailing on the existing building was replicated using a smooth white render and burnt timber cladding - we are all looking forward to seeing this exciting project develop on site through to completion.   Traditional Home Design: Self Build Home in Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire by PD Architecture. For this week’s #TBT post we are taking you back to 2009. This self-build home site was located in the centre of a conservation area, and opposite the village church. So, a sensitive design approach was essential for this building project to be successful. Our designs were therefore deliberately targeted towards providing a sympathetic aesthetic to match in with the traditional buildings surrounding the site and to meet the demands of the planning office. The  building plans provided for a five bedroomed self-build family property. The architectural detailing to create a traditional look for the property included  a pan-tile roof with plain tiles to the eaves, (a typical traditional detail in Newark on Trent), a brick chimney, a feature porch and timber windows and doors, along with brick detailing and corbelling to suit the locality.   The traditional look was complimented by the steppi

  ON THE DRAWING BOARD: Nottingham Single Storey Extension: New initial sketch designs for a small single storey rear extension and landscaping works in Nottingham. The single storey extension will create a new garden room, with green roof and corner bi-fold doors the standout new features along with the wheelchair accessible design.  Likewise the landscaping design includes for a wheelchair accessible terrace, (level with the finished floor level of the extension) and also includes for a ramp down to the garden level. Significantly making all areas of the home accessible.  Additionally, built in seating will provide a comfortable seating position at the garden room table – overlooking the newly landscaped garden, whilst the terrace also has built in outside seating area to allow for entertaining inside and outside.  (Being in the UK, weather depending of course).
